About Face: Willow Bark + Amino Acids
Here at Good Science Beauty, our skincare products are grounded in proven science. It all starts with the ingredients. This is the second in a series of blog posts that take an in-depth look at our ingredients, how they work, and why we use them in our products.
When developing our 001-Pu Purifying Face Cream, we tapped two of nature’s biggest skincare secrets: willow bark and amino acids. These two ingredients combat the skin-damaging effects of pollution, and reduce inflammation, blemishes, and breakouts deep within the skin.
Willow bark has been used for centuries to ease pain. Ancient Egyptians and Native Americans were known to chew on the bark, brew willow bark tea, and use it in warm baths. These days, the bark is used topically to soothe irritated skin because of its effective anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. The ingredient is also a natural source of salicin, which metabolizes into salicylic acid and unclogs pores.
We also incorporated arginine and glycine into our 001-Pu Purifying Face Cream, two naturally occurring amino acids that help build collagen for rapid repair. These amino acids work together to retain your skin’s moisture and keep your skin hydrated, despite harsh environmental factors.
Our patented carrier technology Good Silicon+® delivers these ingredients to your skin pores and follicles. There, willow bark reduces inflammation and treats blemishes. Because willow bark can also dry your skin, the amino acids work to speed up the healing process and replenish your skin.
Good Silicon+® releases these ingredients over time, providing continuous efficacy as it dissolves into orthosilicic acid (OSA). OSA is an absorbable form of the essential micro-mineral Silicon, which supports natural collagen production and tissue repair. With continued use, your skin will be able to take on any pollution-inducing aggravation that comes with city living.
